Upcoming Monthly Guild Meetings
November's Meeting
Monday, November 18th, 2024
6:30 p.m.
Santa Fe Women's Club
Our Program is.....
Jill Carlson!!!!
Come and feast your eyes on Jill Carlson's many and varied creations, some on display and some through a PowerPoint presentation. Jill has been quilting since the mid-1990s. She will describe her journey of crafts and fiber arts as illustrated in her art quilts, appliqué, and paper piecing projects. She also makes many types of purses and bags using quilting cotton, canvas, cork fabric, and leather. Her bags will be for sale at the meeting, so bring cash or your checkbook: no credit cards. Bags will be reasonably priced since her husband wants to reclaim some space in her house! This is a great time to pick up holiday gifts.
Guild Holiday Party/Potluck Luncheon
Deb Martinez and Lynn Herd
Date • Saturday, December 14
Time • 11:30 AM - 2:00 PM
Location • Santa Fe Woman's Club
Menu • You tell us, cuz it's Potluck!
Exchange • Homemade Stocking
Community Outreach • St. Elizabeth's Shelter and Casa Familia
Game • Ornament Decorating...Blindfolded!
Join us as we celebrate the holiday season with an as-you-wish potluck luncheon—no food assignments! Just bring an entrée, salad, side dish, or dessert of your choice. Remember to bring a serving utensil for your dish as none are available at SF Woman’s Club. Plates, napkins, and eating utensils will be provided. Also remember to bring your refillable water bottle to help us save on plastic waste. Ice water will be available to fill your container or cup.
If you choose to participate, there will be a homemade stocking exchange. (If you bring a stocking, you go home with a stocking.) There are no rules or size requirements or restrictions, so have fun making a stocking to exchange. Please wrap your stocking to make the swap more fun. If you don’t celebrate Christmas but would like to make a stocking, we will be welcoming donations of handmade stockings to donate to children in need in Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico.
We have a fun game planned for the luncheon! Wearing a blindfold, you will have a specific period of time to decorate an ornament using a Styrofoam ball. While the fun is in the making of ornaments, there will also be some prizes!
Because it was so popular in the past, we would again like to collect coats, gloves, winter hats, and warm boots to benefit the St. Elizabeth’s Shelter and Casa Familia. Clean and new or gently used warm outer wear for men for women and children is appreciated.
Questions? Contact Lynn Herd or Deb Martinez for more information.

Stitchpunk
In January-on January 27, at 6:30 pm, we will be having a Zoom presentation from Kestrel Michaud, a quilter/artist.
This presentation features a deep dive into her creative history and artistic process. Her award-winning quilts are the culmination of a lifetime of artistic growth, and the first half of this presentation explains how she got to where she is today. It's a biographical look at her artistic life from an early age through her late 20s.
The second half of "Kestrel's Creations" is about her process. She has used the same fundamental creative process for every fabric picture or quilt she's ever made, although her workflow underwent a major overhaul as she transitioned from analog to digital. Using behind-the-scenes photos and videos from the makings of multiple quilts, she will take us step-by-step through the process of her design in its entirety, from initial sketch to free-motion quilting.

Pre-Meeting Tables
From the time doors open to when the actual meeting starts, there will be representatives of different activities available. If you're visiting our guild for the first time, stop by the membership table to join our guild or just take a membership form home with you. Sign-ups for upcoming workshops or other activities are also usually available. And, if you have completed blocks of the month, drop them off and pick up your raffle tickets for the block of the month drawing.
Block of the Month
Each month there will be a specific block pattern to follow. For every block you bring to the meeting you will receive one raffle ticket to win all the blocks created by members. So, the more blocks you create, the more chances you have to win! For details on the current month's block, check the homepage.
Show and Tell
- Community Service Quilt Show and Tell
Each month, members share quilts, pillow cases and place mats they have created to donate to our community service projects.
- Quilts of Valor Quilt Show and Tell
After community service sharing, members who have made quilts for the Quilts of Valor project show their donations.
- General Quilt Show and Tell
Members are encouraged to bring in both finished quilts and quilts in progress to share with the guild.
